Photos are a huge part of any modern home inspection report. Photos show details and information to our clients without them needing to read our observations. Tap Inspect makes it quick and easy to add, manage, and markup report photos while you are inspecting. This saves you an hour or more after the inspection compared to adding all the photos after the inspection has been done.
Before You Begin
Adding photos to a Tap Inspect report requires your permission to access to the camera of your device and also the photos saved on your device's camera roll. Be sure to grant the required permissions so Tap Inspect can operate most efficiently for you.
Photo Collections
A photo collection is a group of photos that can include a single photo or multiple photos. The photo collection could be part of a comment, the photos of a photo items, or they could be the item photos of a multiple choice item.
When you take or add a photo to one of your reports you are adding that photo to a photo collection. This groups all the related photos together in your report and keeps them associated with the report element where you added them.
You can always add more photos to a collection, rearrange the order of the photos, or delete a single photo from the collection and the report.
Taking New or Adding Existing Photos
When you are adding a photo to a report you can either take a new photo directly in the app or add existing photos from the camera roll of the device you are using. The choice is up to you and is really a matter of the workflow you want to follow.
Taking a photo and adding to a comment or item while you are inspecting that thing is the most efficient way of recording what you see. There can be other times like when walking a roof or walking an attic when you may want to snap photos using the camera app of your device. Then once you are back on solid ground you can add the existing photos to your report.
Working With Report Photos
Tap on any photo thumbnail in your report to open it full screen in the photo viewer. The photo viewer provides the actions to work with individual photos. Actions like deleting a photo from the report, edit or markup the photo, and to save or share the photo.
The photo viewer lets you swipe to view each photo in the collection. This lets you quickly view and work with a group of photos at one time.
Markup and Editing Photos
Photo markups can be handy to direct your client's attention to a specific area of a report photo. Tap Inspect provides easy to use markup tools in the Photo Editor that can be used right after snapping a photo or after the photo has been added to your report.
You can markup a photo with shapes and arrows to direct attention to an area of a photo. Text labels can help clarify the context of a photo. You can also change the color and thickness of the markup elements after they have been added.
Tap Inspect keeps your original, unmarked photo so you can always edit or remove your markups or get back to the original pristine photo.
