If you currently use ISN for scheduling, agreements, invoicing, or client messaging, this article outlines what stays the same, what changes, and how inspections and reports fit into your day-to-day workflow once you upgrade from the legacy app experience to the Modern app experience.
The Short Version
- ISN stays your system of record for scheduling, agreements, invoicing, and client messaging
- Tap Inspect is where inspections and reports are created
- The main change is manually creating the job in Tap Inspect after it’s been scheduled in ISN
- You can share your results directly from Tap Inspect or manually upload the report to ISN
- Everything else should feel familiar
What Stays the Same
You can continue using ISN for:
- Scheduling new jobs
- Client agreements and signatures
- Invoicing and payments
- Client and agent messaging
In short, ISN continues to handle your back-office work as it does today.
What Changes
1. Job Creation
When a job is scheduled in ISN, it must be manually created in Tap Inspect. This replaces the automatic job creation that exists in the Legacy app. Most inspectors find this takes only a moment once they’ve done it a few times.
2. Inspection and Report Creation
Inspections and reports are completed in the Modern Tap Inspect app, which:
- Fully supports current versions of iOS and iPadOS
- Receives ongoing maintenance and updates
- Avoids the camera and OS-compatibility issues affecting the Legacy app
3. Delivery of Inspection Results
Once the inspection is complete, you have two options:
- Share the results directly from Tap Inspect with your client and agents
- Upload the completed Full Report PDF back to ISN
You can choose whichever option best fits your existing process.
What Does NOT Change
- Your existing ISN account and data
- Your agreements, invoices, or payment flow
- How clients interact with you
- Your ability to continue using ISN alongside Tap Inspect
Moving to the Modern app does not remove access to your Legacy app data. All Legacy data has been migrated and is available to view or edit in the Modern app.
How is the Modern App Different
The Modern Tap Inspect app is:
- Actively maintained
- Updated to stay compatible with new iPadOS releases
- Where fixes and improvements are made going forward
As Apple continues to evolve, the Modern app is better positioned to adapt to those changes than the Legacy app.
