Tap Inspect provides the flexibility to define and provide as many comment types as you like to build your reports. Each new account is started with a few commonly used comment types. You are encouraged to modify and manage these types as you wish.
Each new Tap Inspect account has a default saved comments library to get you started. This starter library also includes several comment types in descending order of severity.
- Safety Concern
- Repair or Replacement Needed
- Monitor Condition
- Informational
- Private
That should be enough to get most inspectors started. Each comment type lists the number of comments that are using that type.
Manage Your Saved Comment Types
Tap the action button on your Saved Comments settings page and then tap Manage Comment Types.
The Comment Types screen opens to let you manage your comment types.
Each comment type is listed in the order they are displayed in the comment editor of the mobile app. Dragging a comment type up or down will change the order.
- Color
- Label
- Properties of the Type
- Action Menu
The color of a comment type is a visual cue of the severity of the comment. The color can be any color you choose. As a best practice we have found that red tends to best describe the most serious issues, then orange, yellow, blue, etc.
The label will be displayed with the comment in your report so the reader doesn't need to remember what color means what.
The properties of the comment type tells the reporting engine how and where to display a comment in your reports.
- Show in the body of the report and the report summary
- Only show in the body of the report
- Private - Do not show in the report shared with others
The action menu lets you reassign all the comments using this type to another comment type or the trash the comment type if its no longer needed.
