Yes, a person can use more than one device on their account and even edit the same report at the same time from multiple devices.
We added the automatic report merging awhile back and it has been well tested. We have many people using more than one device and also several teams that use Tap Inspect to inspect the same property by multiple people using different devices.
Our current system will merge multiple versions of the same report and keeps the data from the last edit of an item or comment. It works quite well but keep in mind that the merge needs our server for the heavy lifting.
In practice it means that you and your partner can be inspecting the same property while logged into the same Tap Inspect account and using the same report on different devices. If your devices are connected to the internet, they will sync with our servers every five minutes or so while you are using the app. You can also manually sync by pulling down on the Inspections screen or on the Job Information or Perform Inspection screen while you are in a report.
When you sync your device it pushes your changes up and then their device syncs and pulls your changes down. If both of you have made changes the server will merge them together and both your devices will have the most current version of the report.
If your devices are NOT connected to the internet they will still be able to collect data but the sync and any merging will not happen until you do connect and the devices can talk to the server. These syncs take a little longer since all the data is pushed and pulled all at once instead of incrementally while you are using the app.
Give it a try yourself with a sample report. Open it on both devices and complete a section or two on one device, manually sync with the server and then manually sync the other. You will see the report update on your second device. Then add a comment with photos on the second device, sync it and then manually sync the first device. Go back and forth, adding, editing and deleting data on each device.
I think you will find that it works exactly like you are hoping.
