Thoughts on the new software
I inspected two homes today with the new software and my first impressions are really positive. The report writing process is actually quicker now. With the pdf reports, I had to spend extra time trying to make each final report look right. Oftentimes, the photo to a comment would be on the next page - and there would always be too much white space. I had to spend time adding/deleting/ cropping photos and re-organizing the comment order so that the final layout looked neat and professional. I would even have to shorten some comments, deleting a few sentences to keep photos on the same page as the comment. That has always been my main issue with the Tap Inspect pdf reports: making them look professional. With the new software, there is no need to spend extra time editing it for appearance. The html report automatically looks clean and professional. All I had to do was quickly review it for typos. The photos are now very sharp within the report too. This means you can quickly take and insert photos of manufacturer labels , cracks in walls, and other fine detail without worrying if they will look blurry in the report. I also like now being able to add a few extra photos for some areas without adding length to clutter to the report. For example, in a home with a ton limitations due to stored items, it will be nice to add 5 or 10 photos of the clutter -without filling page after page of photos. The extra photos are initially hidden- you click an icon to see them. This is nice for the client and agents as well as it does not look like you are criticizing the seller or home by when you add those CYA photos in messy cluttered homes. They will scroll past them yet they are always there easy to see if they want to. These are my initial thoughts, I will add more later to this thread as time goes by.
